What does it take to be a Stella & Dot Stylist?
Most simply put, you need to be 18 years or older, be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident, have a valid Social Security or Social Insurance number, accept and sign the Independent Stylist Agreement and purchase your Stella & Dot starter kit for $199. You don't need sales experience or a pedigree! We can help you get started.
Is there any minimum investment required?
The $199 Starter Kit provides gorgeous business supplies for your professional start as well as $350 in jewelry samples of your choice. We do recommend that you get your business off to a strong start by purchasing additional samples. Getting an additional 30 pieces at 50% off might cost you about $700 or more depending on what you pick, bringing your total investment in less than a month with an average of 3 parties. We have high party averages of over $700 where you can earn 30% of sales. Plus, you can earn BIG bonuses in your Jump Start Rewards period. You can quickly end up with $1,000s in you pocket and $1000s in free jewelry that is yours to wear and show. There is no inventory required and you'll be able to replace your business supplies by earning business supplies credit! It's pretty amazing that you can start your won stylist business for less that $1,000. We don't make any money on the starter kit because we want to make this opportunity as affordable as possible. We're proud of that. However, it does take a little money to make money!
Are there any minimum sales requirements to stay a Stella & Dot Stylist, keep my discount and keep earning commissions on my downline?
There is no minimum sales required to get your discount. You stay active as a Stylist as long as you renew after a year and pay or earn the $25 renewal fee. In order to receive downline commissions for the month, you must have a minimum wholesalesorder amount of $500 for that month.
What support does Stella & Dot provide?
Our Diva Training Program will give you all the knowledge you need to build your business. Everything from how to book parties and market your business, display your jewels, make the sales and sponsor and support team members. You may be starting your own business, but you are not alone. Our mission is to create a profitable and flexible business for you so you can put your family and life first as well as find something all of you will be passionate about! We're committed to making the business simple, efficient and stylish! We will constantly offer a fresh exciting product line and provide you with the training and motivation you need.
Without creating them yourself, you’ll have a professional website, brochures, products, instructional materials, etc. We’ll offer you business tips, marketing programs and a connection with a wide community of people achieving just like you.
Does it cost me anything to have an upline Stylist? Do I earn less or do they get part of my commissions?
Having an upline Stylist is only a benefit to you. Stella & Dot is a community of people working to support each other. At no cost or reduced earnings to you, your upline Stylist is there to train and support you. Your upline is someone who introduced you to Stella & Dot or is an active and motivated Stylist in your area, assigned to you by the Home Office. You can choose the level of contact you have with your upline Stylist and if you want to attend team meetings or not. However, Stylists often find them to be a wonderful way to make friends, trade creative design ideas and party tips, join efforts to throw large parties and events, swap or share inventory, and keep informed and motivated!
When do I start earning commission for the sales of the Stylists I recruit?
Day 1! There are no delays in the rewards you earn by sharing the Stella & Dot opportunity with others.
Can I recruit someone out of my area?
Yes! When recruiting long-distance, uplines must provide training support and recognition to their downline Stylists. Notes, handouts, and/or audio/videotapes from their meetings can be sent to the remote Stylist in place of live local meeting attendance. The upline Stylist must also: Contact Stella & Dot to make arrangements for her recruit to attend a Unit Meeting in her area if available. Stella & Dot recommends a standard $5 meeting fee for each attending Stylist – remote and local, in Unit or not, to cover costs. Send all the remote Stylists regular newsletters. The upline may arrange with a Stylist in her remote Stylist’s area to have the remote Stylist attend a training session, if available. The upline Stylist may be asked to pay compensation to the local training Stylist.
Are there bonuses or incentives for having a quick start in my business?
Yes! We have a Jump Start program that allows you to earn $1000s in free jewelry by achieving 40, 70 and 100 day goals. You'll also earn a volume rebate when your sales reach a certain amount. Starting strong will allow you to make back your initial investment quickly.
Do I have to pay for Business Supplies?
When you sign up to become a Stylist, you'll receive all the basic business supplies you need in your Starter Kit. You will also earn a monthly 5% business supplies credit when your sales reach a certain amount to help offset the costs for you! When you need to replenish your supplies, you can purchase them in the Business Supplies section of the Stylist Lounge.
Do I have to pay for Hostess Rewards?
Stella and Dot offers a lucrative company paid Hostess program. Hostesses can earn a percentage of party sales (up to 30%!) plus half-price jewelry. Rewards are redeemed during party ordering online. Only parties with over $200 in retail sales and 4+ customer orders will qualify for Hostess Rewards.
How do I handle income and sales taxes for my new Stella & Dot business?
Income tax
The first month of the calendar year, Stella & Dot issues tax form 1099 for the previous year to US Stylists. A 1099 will be issued for each non-employee that has earned commission checks, incentives, prizes, etc., of $600 or more, or has purchased more than $5,000 worth of product intended for resale. Commission and other earnings must be claimed as income in your tax filings each year. By the end of February, Stella & Dot will send a T4A for the previous year to Canadian Stylists who have earned $500 and above. Read more about tax for direct sellers. Stylist Sales Tax
We strive to make things simple for you- and collecting and submitting sales tax on jewelry purchased from Stella & Dot on your behalf is just one of the ways we accomplish this. Your customers pay tax when they make a purchase from the Stella & Dot site. We submit that tax to the proper government agency. Thus, you do not need to have a resellers tax permit.
Registering for a sales tax permit is often a very easy process you can complete by mail, fax or online. An internet search on your state + board of equalization or board of revenue will likely yield a link to your states Board Of Equalization site and give you instructions on where and how to apply for a permit.
There is no fee for processing credit cards through our online party ordering system.
What are the price points for Stella & Dot products?

Our jewelry is fresh, feminine, and versatile - jewels that will take you from day to night. Our goal is to deliver a wide range of irrestible pieces that cater to every taste at amazing prices so that your party average keeps going up! Your party guests will love both our style for a steal and our savvy splurges.
Where is your jewelry manufactured?
Our jewelry is manufactured around the globe with roughly 33% in the United States, 30% in China and 30% in India. Our product and design team scour the world to find a wide range of jewelry with different materials and price points to please you and your customers.
I'd love the see the jewelry in person. Do you have a showroom?
At this time, we do not have a showroom you can visit, but if there is a Stylist in your area, we can connect you with that person, so you can see the gorgeous jewelry of the season.
Where do party orders ship to and how much does it cost?
Party orders can be shipped to the Hostess, the party guest or the Stylist. It all depends on what you and your customer have selected. Where it ships WILL affect shipping costs. For US parties, it may be sent to the Hostess or direct to the party guest for the same low cost of $4 per order. For Canadian parties, it may be sent to the Hostess for party bundle saver shipping of $4 per customer order or direct to the guest for $14.95 per order.
Where are orders shipped from and how fast are they sent out?
Orders are shipped from our distribution center in Houston, TX. Once an order is placed the average turnaround time is 1-2 business days. Depending on the shipping method chosen, it typically takes 3-7 days to receive your order.
How do Stylists handle returns from customers?
Returns and exchanges are handled by the Home Office. An invoice copy must accompany the return or exchange. Some Stylists may choose to take care of sending the return/exchange in for their customers as an extra customer appreciation service. Want to know how confident we are that you will love your quality jewelry from Stella & Dot? Rest assured, you can return a product for 60 days after purchase. Are personal websites available for Stylists?
Yes! Personal websites are available for Stylists where you can direct customers to shop. All sales from your personal website will be credited to you for which you will receive commissions.
